Sig Sauer P220 Match Elite 10mm Review

For years, 10mm devotees have been calling upon the company to produce its popular full-size Sig Sauer P220 classic in the formidable round that’s been the subject of much debate over the last 30 years. The pistol is certainly stout enough to handle the increased pressures that the 10mm has become known for, but the years of silence have been deafening — until now.

The SHOT Show had something new for just about every optics lover. There was an exceptional low-power variable from Bushnell all the way up to a new front-runner in long-range precision from Nightforce. Throw in some groundbreaking work in rangefinders from SIG Sauer, a new 1-8X from Trijicon and a new holosight from Vortex, and 2017 looks pretty great from an optics point of view.

Springfield Armory In The News

Springfield Armory made its foray into the AR market and announced its AR-15 to a short list of my colleagues within the Outdoor Sportsman Group (OSG). Shooting Times, Rifleshooter and Guns & Ammo were all represented at the secret preview on Sept. 13, 2016. The location was a remote training facility near Gillette, Wyoming, where U.S. Navy SEAL Eric Frohardt was busy training combat mindset and carbine use to six female shooting contestants from different walks of life. The winning participant would be announced as the face of Springfield’s project several weeks later, when the rest of the gun industry’s media was let in on the secret project in Las Vegas.

The Doublestar PHD is Insurance You Can Afford

When the subject of 1911s Arises, DoubleStar does not necessarily come to mind. Going forward, I feel they should. They have been making 1911s for almost 15 years now, and the fully-forged “C” series are good examples of a high-end 1911. In a world where incomes have not progressed nearly as much as the powers-that-be assert they have, a 1911 that starts at $2,500 is a tough sell. Aware of this, DoubleStar decided to see how much they could ease the cost of their pistols, while still offering the features that every self-respecting 1911 owner requires. The end result is the DoubleStar PhD.

Glock G-43

The G43 is our new single stack, 9mm pistol. The G43 is the most highly desired and anticipated release in GLOCKs history. The G43 is the answer to your everyday concealed carry needs. It’s ultra-concealable, accurate and fantastic for all shooters regardless of hand size. The grip has a built in beaver tail design which allows the shooter to acquire a high and tight grip. The aggressive texture of the grip lets the shooter more easily operate the pistol. The large magazine catch allows for easy removal of the six round magazine. Engineered to the same standards, the G43 can withstand the same tortures as other GLOCK pistols.

TFB Exclusive: Glock 17M In The Wild

With the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting now just a few days away, new product announcements are a foregone conclusion. At the top of my (and many others) list of releases is the the elusive Glock Generation 5 and/or ‘M’ models that may or may not make an appearance sometime this year. Possibly signaling pending public availability, a legitimate ‘high speed, low drag’ friend of mine was just issued a Glock 17M for some real-world testing.

I Gave It A Miss:   Too Many “Broken” Stories Online.

Also, the only ones I’ve ever seen have been in gunshops—Broken.

One of the first things you’ll probably notice about this gun is that the bullet is fired from the bottom of the cylinder, not the top, and that the barrel is therefore located lower than you would expect from a revolver. This design, according to the manufacturer, helps to reduce muzzle flip, recoil, and increases “natural point ability.”

Capacity or Concealment

How many people favor a more concealable handgun at the expense of ammo capacity when they concealed carry?

Sig Sauer 556 Meets Gears of War

Or perhaps it’s the other way around? The first time I saw a Sig Sauer 556 on the wall of one of my local gun shops (they actually had a few of them) I couldn’t help but think how badass it looked and how much it looked like something out of a movie or video game.

Microstamping, What’s the Point?

Microstamping is a crime stopping idea that won’t stop crime. For those of you who don’t know what microstamping is in relation to gun control, it’s the process in which a bullet casing is stamped with a unique identifier which is located at the tip of a firing pin. When the pin hits the primer, a small stamp (like the one seen in the photo) is imprinted onto the primer.

Bolt-Action or Semi-Auto?

At one point in time it was a given that a bolt-action rifle was a more accurate choice over a semi-auto rifle. It could be argued that caliber choices were once more limited for semi-autos than they are now, or that a bolt-action rifle seated the bullet better than a semi-auto. Weigh in with your thoughts after the video from Future Weapons.

VIDEO: Armed Employee Sneaks up Behind Armed Suspect, Foils Robbery Attempt

According to, the suspect, 26-year-old Frederick Thornton, walked into the business wearing a surgical mask, pointed a gun at the 51-year-old clerk, and demanded money. He allegedly became aggravated with the clerk’s pace and “smacked his gun against the register,” demanding the money be handed over quicker.

Banging against the register and screaming at the clerk caused enough noise that a 24-year-old working in the back of the store noticed the commotion, retrieved a handgun, and went out to intervene. The video shows the employee sneak up behind Thornton and put the gun against his back.
